Sergey Ivanov, the chairman of the State Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan, expects around 3,000 Iranians to visit the capital Kazan this summer to attend the 2018 FIFA World Cup football match between the Iranian and Spanish national teams on June 20.
“The visitors have already been purchasing tickets and booking hotels. We are currently training Farsi-speaking guides to accommodate the Iranian fans,” Mr. Ivanov said.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place between June 14 and July 15 at 12 football stadiums in 11 Russian cities.
The tournament will involve 32 national teams. Iran will also play against Morocco and Portugal on June 6 and 25, respectively.
