Farzaneh Sharafbafi, the chairwoman and CEO of Iran Air (Homa), said a record number of young women had applied for jobs as pilots with Iran Air.
A total of 50 female applicants had passed the company’s pilot exams and many more were expected to take the test soon, she added.
Ms. Sharafbafi also announced that the airline planned to add two ATR regional transport passenger aircraft to its fleet. “Our colleagues are currently testing these airplanes in France,” she said.
“Purchasing (American) Boeing is a complicated process, but we’ve been negotiating with (European) Airbus, and will take delivery of two passenger planes soon,” Sharafbafi said. “We’ll also rent more aircraft.”
